Our community is blessed with a fitness and community center, unique in its origins and vital to the citizens who participate in its varied programs. Friends of Community Fitness, established in 2003 as a non-profit 501©3 offers 24/7 access (over 18) with a computerized magnetic card security lock which tracks our members use of the facility. Our success is possible because of a combination of collaborations between business, non-profits and caring individuals who have volunteered their time and money for a project they feel is beneficial to the health and well being of our community. We receive grants and donations from many individuals, scholarship funds from the Piscataquis Public Health Council, Healthy Maine Partnerships, support from Hardwood Products, Puritan Medical Products, LLC, and Key Bank.
